Megan Doesn’t Want A Murdering Millionaire

Some stories do not have happy endings. This is one of them.

On VH1’s reality dating show Megan Wants A Millionaire, one of the contestants, Ryan Jenkins, is currently on the run from the law. He is a “person of interest” in the death of his wife. At first, I was thinking, “His wife? If he is married, then why is he on this show?” Then I remembered how Tailor Made was in the process of getting a divorce from his first wife when he was competing on I Love New York for the love of Tiffany “New York” Pollard. He won that show even though he had a soon to be ex-wife.

VH1 is suspending Megan Wants A Millionaire in the meantime. I think that they are worried that people will be too uncomfortable watching the show knowing that one of the men is a potential murderer.

In the previous episode, Ryan won a solo date with Megan. Through the first three episodes of the show, I would say that he is one of the frontrunners on the program. I think part of the reason why they are suspending the show is because he probably went very far on the show. I would guess that he would be in the final three.

It has also been reported that he was a contesting on the show I Love Money 3. VH1 has not made the list of contestants on I Love Money 3 public yet, but with the suspension of Megan Wants A Millionaire, it has been reported that he was also to be on I Love Money 3. This could cause them to have to reshoot the show whether he is the winner or not.

Here’s my take on the situation. I am very surprised that this is the specific VH1 show where a person is wanted for a serious crime. The men on the show are very wealthy. Unlike the other shows, I have not seen any fistfights. Since they are millionaires, they could stand to lose a lot of money if they are sued for violence.

I remember an episode from Flavor of Love 2 in which Becky “Buckwild” quit the show because she was on parole and feared that she could go to jail if she harms Tiffany “New York” Pollard. I was not surprised to see that one of the contestants was on parole because of all the fighting I had seen on Flavor of Love 1 and 2. But Megan Wants A Millionaire was different. One punch, a man could lose a lot of money. I feel that having more to lose, these men were less willing to commit crimes.

Violence is different than murder. While I do not know if Ryan Jenkins is innocent or guilty, the thought of seeing a potential murderer on a “Love” show just seems a little creepy.

I completely understand why VH1 is suspending the show, but I will admit that I want to see the remaining episodes. Watching the show, I will view Ryan differently, but I still want to see what happens. I don’t watch the “Love” shows on VH1 thinking that these people will seriously find love. I watch for the entertainment value. I have been entertained very well by VH1 for the last three years and hope that they film more “Love” shows. When Ryan Jenkins is caught, I hope that they return to air the show. If they feel that it is not worth airing in its normal time, I will be willing to watch a marathon of the show.

My enjoyment of the show is secondary to the real issue. A woman was murdered. That is the most important issue. As much as I love the show, I cannot disagree with VH1’s decision to suspend it, at least until Ryan Jenkins is caught and questioned in the case of his murdered wife. I have included a picture showing Ryan and his wife on purpose. I could have just shown him. But his wife is a real person named Jasmine Fiore. This is a tragedy. I am older than she was and her life is over. For everyone who will miss watching Megan Wants A Millionaire on Sunday, I feel for you and will miss it too, but what happened to Jasmine Fiore is more important. While my blog is about the entertainment industry, life is more important than any show, movie, or song. VH1 has made the right decision.
